Crispy Shredded Beef Tacos and Taco Tuesday in Arizona
Happy Taco Tuesday.
One of my favorite dishes at Mexican food restaurants is a crispy shredded beef taco. I always order it with just meat and cheese. No lettuce. In my opinion, lettuce adds a sweet flavor that distracts from what really matters—the taco itself.
If you’ve spent any time eating tacos in Arizona, you’ve probably noticed something else too: tacos aren’t as cheap as they used to be. I remember when tacos were $1 or $2. Those days are long gone, which is exactly why Taco Tuesday has become my favorite day to enjoy them.
Why Taco Tuesday Still Matters
With food prices climbing everywhere, Taco Tuesday is one of the few times you can still enjoy great tacos at a reasonable price. For me, it’s not just about saving money—it’s about finding spots that deliver quality and value, especially when I’m taking my daughters out to eat.
In the video, I break down my three favorite restaurants for crispy shredded beef tacos and how their regular prices compare to Taco Tuesday pricing.
My Favorite Places for Crispy Shredded Beef Tacos
Ajo Al’s
Ajo Al’s makes my favorite crispy shredded beef taco. The flavor is excellent, and it’s the taco I compare all others to. The regular price is $6.50, while the Taco Tuesday price drops to $4.50. It’s great quality, but at full price, it’s hard to justify eating them regularly.
Macayo’s
At Macayo’s, the regular taco price isn’t listed, but a single taco with a side is priced at $11.99. On Taco Tuesday, tacos are $3, which makes it a much more attractive option if you’re going specifically for tacos.
Someburros
Someburros is my go-to Taco Tuesday spot with my daughters. The regular price is $3.95, and on Taco Tuesday they’re $2.75. That price point makes it easy to enjoy tacos without feeling like you’re overspending.
Favorite Taco vs. Best Value
If I’m being honest, my favorite taco comes from Ajo Al’s. But when it comes to value—especially for Taco Tuesday—Someburros wins. At $2.75 per taco, it’s a much more reasonable option, particularly when you’re feeding kids and still want good food.
That balance between flavor, price, and experience is what Taco Tuesday is really about.
