Foundation for His Ministry (FFHM)

The Foundation for His Ministry (FFHM) is a Christian organization with a significant history and presence in Mexico, particularly near San Quintin in Baja California. Here’s an overview of its history and operations:

History

  • Founding: The organization was founded in 1966 by Charla Pereau and her husband Chuck Pereau. Their initial mission was to serve the poor and marginalized in Mexico through Christian outreach.
  • Early Years: The ministry started with efforts to support orphans, widows, and the needy, growing steadily over the years due to the dedication of its founders and supporters.
  • Expansion: As the ministry grew, it expanded its outreach to include not just orphan care, but also education, vocational training, medical services, and church planting.

San Quintin Orphanage

  • Location: The orphanage is located near San Quintin, a region in Baja California, Mexico. This location was chosen due to the high needs of the local population, including many orphans and impoverished families.
  • Facilities: The orphanage complex includes living quarters for children, educational facilities, a chapel, and areas for vocational training. It is designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Services: In addition to basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing, the orphanage offers educational programs, spiritual guidance, and medical care. There are also programs aimed at helping children develop life skills and prepare for independent living.
  • Community Impact: The orphanage plays a crucial role in the local community, not only by supporting orphans but also by providing employment opportunities and various forms of community outreach, including medical clinics and disaster relief.

Mission and Vision

  • Mission: The Foundation for His Ministry aims to demonstrate God’s love by meeting the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of the people it serves. This is accomplished through practical assistance, educational programs, and the proclamation of the Gospel.
  • Vision: FFHM envisions a world where vulnerable children and communities are empowered to reach their full potential through the love and support of a caring Christian community.

Matlock Racing's Support

Volunteer and Support

  • Volunteers: The ministry relies heavily on volunteers from around the world who help with various tasks, including construction, education, medical care, and spiritual guidance. Recently, Kristen and Wayne Matlock with Matlock Racing organized their annual offroad adventure along the coastline of Baja from Ensenada to San Quintin to visit the children at the Foundation for His Ministry (FFHM). This year, Matlock Racing, their sponsors, and the ride members contributed 100 pairs of new shoes, backpacks, all the school supplies for the year, $5,000 in monetary donations, and other treats for the children.
A highlight of the visit was taking the kids for rides in UTVs, a joy-filled experience for both the children and the participants.
  • Donations: FFHM is supported by donations from individuals, churches, and organizations. These donations are critical for maintaining and expanding its services. Contributions can include monetary donations, supplies, or other resources that help the foundation continue its mission.

Legacy and Ongoing Work

  • Legacy: Over the decades, FFHM has impacted countless lives, providing hope and a future to children who might otherwise have none. The dedication of its founders and the support of its community have created a lasting legacy of compassion and service.
  • Ongoing Projects: The foundation continues to seek ways to expand its impact, including developing new programs, enhancing existing services, and exploring new areas of need within the community

AZ Outdoor Adventures

This year Michael Hankerson with AZ Outdoor Adventures and his daughter Jennifer Hankerson had the privilege of joining Matlock Racing’s offroad adventure to visit the children at Foundation for His Ministry (FFHM) orphanage.  This was Jennifer’s first trip to Mexico, first opportunity to participate in helping the orphanage, and her first opportunity to drive offroad in Baja so this will be a cherished memory.
