Meeting New Friends
One of the highlights of our trip was the camaraderie and friendships formed along the way. My twin daughters, Jennifer and Kennedy, were thrilled to meet another set of twins, Angela and Kristina, who were just a year older. The instant connection among them added a special layer of joy and excitement to our journey.
Conquering the Rapids
The real thrill began when we tackled the mighty Colorado River. We navigated through 9 miles of its challenging waters, facing renowned rapids like Pipe Springs, Horn Creek, Salt Creek, Granite, Hermit, and Boucher. The rapids of Granite and Hermit, rated between 9 and 9+, offered a particularly intense experience. The icy, 46-degree waters, sourced from beneath Lake Powell, transformed from a deep chocolate brown to a vibrant emerald green as we approached the formidable Granite Rapid.
Setting Up Camp
After a day filled with adrenaline, we set up camp along the picturesque riverbank. The serene environment was the perfect backdrop for our group to relax and share stories. The Canyoneers crew prepared a hearty dinner, allowing us all to refuel and reminisce about the day’s adventures under the starlit sky.
